The Kanmed Baby Warmer can uniquely offer non-incubator support to neonates at much lower birth weights, with similar outcomes to incubator care. This makes the warmer a cost-effective solution for hospitals and enables more babies to be cared for, as they can be moved from a traditional incubator much quicker. The Cochrane report into cot-nursing versus incubator care for preterm infants concludes that cot-nursing using a heated mattress has similar effects to incubator care with particular regard to temperature control and weight gain.
